SIDEBAR FROM THE DIRECTOR

If you’ve made it to this page, then chances are you are interested in ACTION DANCE CREW! WOOHOO! I know this is a lot of information and can seem overwhelming, but it’s really not a bad thing. With that said, there are a few things I would like to emphasize about myself, what I expect, and how everything will run. I am upfront and honest so there aren’t any surprises down the road. It is what it is and I hope you can appreciate that.

I do not tolerate cockiness, negativity, or gossip. Once I sense it or it is brought to my attention, it is stopped. If it can’t be stopped, then it is removed. Both parents and students are held to behavior expectations.

When I give feedback, I am always honest with the dancers. I don’t “sugarcoat” feedback, which is to their benefit. If it wasn’t a great performance, I’ll tell them. Even when they win big I’ll say, “Wow, you guys were phenomenal, BUT…” there is always a but. This is how it is in the real world and I would be doing each dancer a disservice if I did otherwise. Also, without giving them something to think about or work on, how else would you expect them to get better and dance to their fullest potential?

In order to be an ADC dancer, you have to be a hard worker, have self discipline, be able to pick up multiple styles of dance, have the ability to absorb choreography quickly, and you have to care. You are a part of a team and each one of you has to give 110% of your effort to your class time, rehearsal time, performance time, and the time you spend outside of dance practicing. Likewise, I lead by example and put 110% of my effort into this dance company and everything else that I do. If I can’t give something 110% of my effort, then I don’t do it.

When the ADC dancers leave the nest, I want them to have the option of pursuing professional dance careers or to have the discipline they need to be successful in whichever career path they choose. I will talk to anyone and do anything when it comes down to educating my kids and helping them in any way they need me to. In the real world, everything is an audtiiton and there is always someone who is working harder. We as dance teachers provide a path to success, but it is up to each dancer as to how fast they want to go. Basically, each dancer is as good as they want to be.

I am going on my 9th year of directing my own competitive and performing dance team and year by year we are growing larger as a team, but watching my dancers’ grow individually is what makes it all worthwhile! I’ve seen dreams come true; I’ve seen results; I’ve seen lives changed.

We are always looking forward to new dancers coming in! I have truly been blessed with such a great group of dancers; not only because they are talented, but because they are also considerate, friendly, respectful, and above the barre in so many ways! I know my dance team as a TEAM, but individually as well, I know all of their names, most of their middle names, their birthdays, what happened at school today, what they ate for dinner last night, and I notice if they are not in class. I prefer it that way because it makes each one of them feel special and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is what makes us an ADC family*

I would like to thank you for your interest in ADC and I am looking forward to working with you this next dance season!
