Attendance
Students can only achieve to their highest potential if they are spending the proper amount of time training. Classroom learning is imperative for the safety and technical ability of our dancers.
If for some reason you will be late or not be able to attend your weekly dance classes or Saturday dance company practices, you will need to notify the director in advance. It is to the director's discretion whether it will be an excused or unexcused absence, for example: not calling at all or a sleepover at a friend's house: unexcused / grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary: excused. Clearly there are more examples, but this is just to give you an idea.
Your team members depend on you to be at practice! If you are not there, it makes it very difficult for dances to be learned, for timing to improve, for the choreographer to arrange formations, etc. If you miss more than two company practices while we are learning a dance, you will not be in that number. Arranged and approved absences (with the director's consent) will be excused if the dancer learns the missed portion of the dance before the next rehearsal by scheduling a private lesson or by getting together with a friend to learn what was missed. Please be advised that missing practice could result in the dancer missing out on being in certain parts or formations.
Excessive weekly dance class and/or company absences will result in dismissal from ADC.
*Being an Action Dance Crew member is over a year-long commitment and company members are required to be enrolled in weekly dance classes throughout this entire time! NO EXCEPTIONS! When you miss a dance class, you should make it up within that month. The above attendance guidelines have been established for the safety of our dancers and to ensure success at nationals, which are held over the summer.
